RECAP

The Strawberrys outlasted the Baboons in a 5-4 overtime thriller that saw both offenses trading blows until the very end. While the Baboons were clinical on the counter-attack and made the most of their limited opportunities, they spent much of the game under heavy pressure in their own zone. The narrative of the night was the Strawberrys’ relentless pursuit of the puck, which eventually culminated in mashotpa burying the game-winner in the extra frame to secure the hard-fought victory. Several players put on a clinic in offensive production. splxshin. led the way for The Strawberrys with 2 goals and 2 assists, while Prodigyx8 added 2 goals and 12 hits to keep the physical pressure on. The hero of the night, however, was mashotpa, who capped off a 3-point performance by netting the decisive overtime goal. On the other side, Hergy9 did everything in his power to keep the Baboons alive, matching the game-high with 2 goals and 2 assists of his own, supported by a solid 3-point effort from Bills 39. The defining difference in this contest was the massive gap in time on attack. The Strawberrys controlled the play for 539 seconds compared to just 329 for the Baboons, a discrepancy that eventually wore down the Baboons' structure. While Hergy9 was strong in the faceoff circle, winning 15 of 26 draws to keep the Baboons in the hunt, they simply couldn't overcome the sustained offensive zone pressure. The Strawberrys’ ability to maintain possession eventually cracked a Baboons defense that struggled to find exits, leading to the narrow 16-15 shot advantage that favored the winners.
