SERVICE
The short version
The full terms below are what count. Please read them, and our privacy policy.
These terms are an agreement between you and Rink Rivals (“we”, “us”). They cover the Rink Rivals hockey game for Mac and any later versions (“the game”), your Rink Rivals game account, and rinkrivals.com and the league's other tools (together, “the services”).
You accept these terms when you sign in to the game or make an account (the sign-in screen links here), or when you use the services. If you do not agree, do not use them. For the game, these terms are its end-user licence.
The game is for players who live in Canada and the United States. Do not make a game account if you live anywhere else.
You must be at least 13 years old to make a game account.
If you are under 18, or under the age of majority where you live, a parent or guardian must read and agree to these terms for you. They are responsible for how you use the services.
If we learn that an account belongs to someone under the minimum age, we will close it and delete its personal data.
You can delete your account at any time. See deleting your account in the privacy policy for what that removes and what stays.
We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to download and play the game for your own non-commercial use, as long as you follow these terms. You can stream and post videos of your own play.
You must not:
The game is in active development. Features, modes, ratings and balance will change. Online play needs the internet and our servers, and they may be down, slow, or switched off.
When you play, and anywhere you represent Rink Rivals, you agree not to:
League games also follow the league rules. If the two disagree, the stricter one applies.
If we believe you broke these terms, we may, depending on how serious it is:
We use our judgement and try to be fair and consistent. If you think we got it wrong, email [email protected] and a person will look at it again.
The game has XP, levels, ranked ratings, leaderboard positions, club records and may later have club credits, cosmetics or other in-game items (together, “virtual items”).
The game does not sell anything today. If we ever add purchases, we will tell you the price and the terms before you pay, and these terms will be updated first.
Your gamertag, avatar look, player builds, club names, mottos and crests, and your match results and stats are shown to other players, on leaderboards, and may be shown on rinkrivals.com and the league's streams and social channels.
You keep any rights you have in things you create. You give us a free, worldwide, non-exclusive licence to host, show, copy and share them as part of running and promoting Rink Rivals. This licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies already shared and for match history, which is kept under an anonymous name.
If you send us a clip or other material, you confirm you have the right to share it. You can ask us to take something down at any time.
rinkrivals.com, the league's Discord bots, the stats site, the clip archive and the league's social posting tools are provided to league members and fans as they are, and may change or be withdrawn at any time.
Rink Rivals' posting tools may connect to the league's own accounts on services such as TikTok, Instagram, YouTube and X, only with the permission of the account's owner, and only to publish or schedule the league's highlight videos and announcements. They do not read private messages and they do not post on behalf of members or fans.
Do not misuse the site, try to disrupt it, or access areas that are not meant for you.
Some parts of the services rely on other companies, such as Discord for sign-in and Photon (Exit Games) for online matches. When you use them, their own terms and privacy policies also apply. We are not responsible for their services.
The game, its code, art, animation, sound and the Rink Rivals name and logo belong to Rink Rivals or to the people who licensed them to us. These terms do not give you any rights in them other than the licence above.
Rink Rivals is an independent community league. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Electronic Arts, EA SPORTS, the National Hockey League or the NHL Players' Association. Their names and marks belong to them.
The services are provided “as is” and “as available”. As far as the law allows, we make no promises that they will be free of bugs, always available, secure, or that your progress or stats will never be lost.
Some places do not allow these exclusions. Where that is so, they apply only as far as the law allows.
Rink Rivals is run by a small community team. As far as the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost data or progress, or lost profits, and our total liability to you for anything to do with the services is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the last 12 months or 50 Canadian dollars.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot legally be limited, or takes away your rights under consumer protection laws where you live.
You can stop using the services and delete your account at any time. We can suspend or end your access if you break these terms, if the law requires it, or if we stop running the game. If we shut the game down for everyone, we will try to give at least 30 days' notice in the game or on rinkrivals.com.
The sections on virtual items, your content licence, ownership, no guarantees, liability and which law applies keep working after the agreement ends.
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version. For an important change, we will tell you in the game or on rinkrivals.com before it starts. If you keep playing after it starts, you accept the new terms. If you do not, you can delete your account.
These terms are governed by the laws of Alberta and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. Disputes will go to the courts of Alberta, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring a claim at home. Please email us first; most problems can be solved that way.
Questions, appeals, or a report of a cheater or a bug: email [email protected], or reach the league committee in the Rink Rivals Discord.
