RECAP

The Harfangs dictated the pace of play in a methodical 3-1 victory over the Gooper Troopers, relying on a heavy forecheck and sustained zone pressure to secure the win. Despite the Gooper Troopers actually outshooting the Harfangs 17-14, the game felt tilted in favor of the visitors for the majority of the night. The turning point came through the Harfangs' ability to convert on limited but high-quality opportunities while their defensive shell prevented the Troopers from finding any rhythm in the slot. RyGuyX9 managed to break through for the home side’s lone goal, but it wasn't enough to overcome a disciplined Harfangs squad that refused to give up the middle of the ice. The offensive burden for the Harfangs was carried by the duo of Duchesne_x_10 and xbrindy, who both finished with a goal and an assist. xbrindy was a physical force all night, racking up a massive 13 hits to disrupt the Troopers' breakout attempts, while Jeeves2009 added a crucial insurance marker. On the other side of the puck, Hobo 0n Welfare was excellent in net for the Harfangs, turning aside 16 of the 17 shots he faced for a .941 save percentage. He stood tallest in the final period, denying HalfSackStan and RyGuyX9 on multiple occasions to keep the comeback at bay. The statistical story of this game was told through puck possession and physical play. While the Troopers had more shots on net, the Harfangs dominated Time on Attack (TOA) with 520 seconds compared to 348 for the home team. This gap in possession allowed the Harfangs to wear down the Troopers' defense, led by Frishmania’s 8 hits. Ultimately, the Gooper Troopers' inability to stay out of their own zone proved fatal. Even with zero power play goals for either side, the Harfangs' ability to control the cycle and win the physical battle in the corners ensured they walked away with the points.
