The Strawberrys put on a clinic in finishing efficiency, securing a 6-3 victory over Area 51 despite being outshot and out-possessed for much of the game. While Area 51 controlled the tempo with 551 seconds of time on attack compared to 455 for the home side, they couldn't solve the Strawberrys' counter-punching style. The turning point came in the middle frames where the Strawberrys' top line began converting nearly every high-danger look they generated, effectively demoralizing an Area 51 squad that had doubled them in shot volume (21-11).
The offensive explosion was led by mashotpa, who turned in a massive 5-point performance, including a hat trick and 2 assists. He was supported heavily by Teoskiii, who dominated the middle of the ice with 2 goals, 2 assists, and a game-high 8 hits, and LarkSr, who added a goal and 3 helpers. On the back end, Hobo was a primary distributor, racking up 3 assists from the blue line. While mashotpa struggled with puck security at times, his 7 takeaways and clinical 75% shooting percentage ensured that whenever he had a lane, the puck ended up in the back of the net.
The deciding factor in this contest was a staggering disparity in shooting efficiency and goaltending.
