RECAP

The Strawberrys pulled off a gritty 3-2 overtime victory against Area 51 in a contest where efficiency proved more valuable than shot volume. Despite Area 51 controlling the pace for long stretches and holding a 21-14 shot advantage, they struggled to solve the Strawberrys' defensive structure in the final moments of regulation. The game remained a tight, back-and-forth affair until the extra frame, where the Strawberrys finally found the daylight they needed to end it, overcoming a disciplined Area 51 squad that converted on their only power play opportunity. Lleclerc27 was the undisputed engine for The Strawberrys, finishing with 2 goals and 1 assist, including the decisive overtime winner. Beyond the scoresheet, his 13 hits set a punishing physical tone that made every zone entry difficult for the opposition. He was supported by mashotpa, who factored into every Strawberrys goal with 1 goal and 2 assists of his own. Area 51 saw balanced production from hockeymike2344 and cxshmoney20, while vshotsy was a tireless force on the back end, recording 2 assists and a game-high 5 blocked shots to keep the game within reach. The deciding factor in this one was the disparity in goaltending efficiency and defensive disruption. While Area 51 dominated the puck, racking up 11:01 of time on attack, FatalX87 was a wall in net for The Strawberrys, stopping 19 of 21 shots for a .905 save percentage. In contrast, Jimmy124 struggled to find a rhythm, finishing with a .786 save percentage on significantly fewer looks. Furthermore, the defensive play of splxshin proved vital; his 8 takeaways constantly neutralized Area 51's cycle, preventing their possession advantage from translating into a victory.
