SERIES RECAP

The Metal Can Muppets completed a 3-0 series sweep over Not My Game, though the final result masks just how close this matchup truly was. Every single game was decided by a single goal, with the Muppets grinding out a 2-1 win in the opener before taking Game 2 in a 3-2 overtime thriller. They closed the door in Game 3 with a 4-3 victory, surviving a relentless push from a Not My Game squad that refused to go away quietly. Despite the sweep, the total goal differential across the entire series was only 3, highlighting a battle where momentum lived and died on individual mistakes. The Muppets' offense was fueled by the elite production of Zuuuuuub, who was the series' most dominant force with 9 points (3 goals, 6 assists) in 3 games. He was virtually unstoppable in Game 2, factoring into every goal his team scored, including the overtime winner. Right beside him, BIGTJ1299 provided the finishing touch, netting 5 goals across the series, highlighted by a clutch hat trick in the Game 3 clincher. Not My Game was led by a gritty performance from DaddyJoeFerg, who recorded 5 points and a series-high 20 hits, while MoNsTeR I30I matched him with 5 points of his own. In the crease, Magilla72 was the backbone for the Muppets, turning aside 47 shots and maintaining a steady presence while facing significant pressure in every period. The defining story of the series was efficiency versus volume. Not My Game actually controlled much of the play, outshooting the Muppets 60-43 and holding a substantial advantage in time on attack (2011 seconds to 1500). However, the Muppets were clinical on the counter-attack, converting their limited looks at a much higher rate. While Not My Game used a physical approach—anchored by 16 PIMs and high hit counts—to try and disrupt the flow, the Muppets stayed disciplined and relied on their top-end finishing. Ultimately, the Muppets’ ability to win the "big moments," such as rrk1989's decisive Game 3 goal and the overtime heroics in Game 2, allowed them to escape with the sweep despite being outshot in every contest.
