SERIES RECAP

Degeneration X takes the series 2-1 over the Mighty Deks after a composed start that saw them lean on superior puck control. DX set the tone early with a 3-1 victory in the opener and followed it up by grinding out a tight 3-2 win in Game 2 to put the series out of reach. While the Mighty Deks found their stride in Game 3 with a 6-3 offensive explosion to salvage some pride, the outcome was decided by the efficiency of the DX cycle during the high-stakes moments of the first two games. Teoskiii and bobaloooo_ were the primary catalysts for Degeneration X, both finishing the series with 8 points. Teoskiii provided the elite finishing with 4 goals, while bobaloooo_ served as the playmaker-in-chief with 6 assists. For the Mighty Deks, See dub 21 was a force of nature in the final game, ending the series with 8 points of his own, including a massive 4-goal performance in the Game 3 victory. Chandler4911 also remained a constant threat for the Deks, racking up 7 points and leading his team with 18 shots on net across the three-game stretch. The series was ultimately decided by possession and passing volume. Degeneration X dictated the pace by attempting 358 passes compared to 307 for the Deks, using a deliberate cycle to wear down the defense. This translated to a consistent Time on Attack advantage in the first two games, which proved insurmountable for the Deks. While the shot differential was a healthy 57-41 in favor of DX, it was the goaltending of LYCAN in the pivotal Game 2 that secured the series, as he stopped 17 of 19 shots to weather a late Deks rally. The Mighty Deks showed they could be clinical in Game 3, but DX’s ability to dominate the puck early on was the statistical story of the matchup.
