SERIES RECAP

Gangsters Hockey Club takes the series 2-1 over the Muffin Men in a matchup that was much tighter than the final result suggests. The series opened with a clean 2-0 shutout for the Gangsters, followed by a gritty 3-2 victory to put them on the brink of a sweep. While the Muffin Men finally found their stride in a high-scoring 5-4 Game 3 win to avoid the goose egg, they couldn't overcome the early deficit in the series standings. The series was defined by the clinical finishing of ryguyx9, who led all players with 6 goals and 7 total points across the 3 games, including 2 game-winners. He was supported heavily by xHoodler, who provided a balanced 2 goals and 4 assists while leading the team with 16 hits. Between the pipes, K33P x 27 was the primary reason the Gangsters took the first two games, stopping 43 of 50 shots faced for a .860 save percentage and a crucial Game 1 shutout. For the Muffin Men, oSplxshin was the standout offensive engine, recording 7 points (2 goals, 5 assists) and a massive 15 shots to lead his team's comeback attempt. Ultimately, the Gangsters' efficiency overcame the Muffin Men’s volume. Across the series, the Muffin Men actually won the possession battle and outshot the Gangsters 46-40, but they struggled to solve K33P x 27 during the most critical moments of the first two games. The Muffin Men's inability to capitalize on a combined 29:09 of time on attack in the first two losses proved fatal. While players like x Neal x 19 x (4 points) and tugeye92 (3 points) finally broke through in the Game 3 track meet, the Gangsters’ defensive structure and opportunistic transition game had already done the damage necessary to secure the series.
