SERIES RECAP

That Was Ugly completes a hard-fought 3-0 sweep over Gangsters Hockey Club in a series that was far more competitive than the final scoreline suggests. Every contest was decided by two goals or fewer, beginning with a back-and-forth 6-4 opener and concluding with a 6-5 thriller. While Gangsters Hockey Club often controlled the sustained tempo—notably outshooting their opponents 28-19 in a tight Game 2—they couldn't find a way to stop the bleeding once That Was Ugly got their transition game rolling. The series belonged to the duo of Jeeves2009 and Po1andsFinest, who were virtually unstoppable across the three games. Jeeves2009 was the primary engine, racking up 13 points (5 goals, 8 assists) and culminating in a clutch hat trick during the Game 3 clincher. Po1andsFinest provided the perfect complement, tallying 12 points and leading the series in physical play with 21 hits. On the other side, xHoodler was a one-man wrecking ball for the Gangsters, scoring 8 goals over the three games, while Norris x 9 was a consistent playmaker out wide, finishing with 6 points in a losing effort. Success in this series came down to clinical finishing and high-danger efficiency. Despite Gangsters Hockey Club holding a cumulative advantage in possession (2898 to 2359) and shots (28-19 in Game 2), That Was Ugly thrived on the counter-attack, shooting a combined 23.9% as a team. Goaltending also proved to be a marginal but deciding factor; SargeNPrawns stood tall under heavy fire, posting 53 total saves and a .815 save percentage to weather the storm, while the Gangsters' defense struggled to limit high-quality looks, allowing 16 goals on just 62 shots against.
