SERIES RECAP

That Was Ugly takes the series 2-1 over Smoke HC in a highly competitive matchup that saw each team protect their home ice through the first two games before TWU closed it out with a decisive Game 3 victory. After claiming a tight 2-1 overtime win in the opener, TWU dropped Game 2 by a score of 3-2, setting up a winner-take-all finale that they dominated 5-3. The offensive firepower of TWU's top line proved to be the difference-maker, with Jeeves2009 (7 goals, 5 assists) and Prodigyx8 (6 goals, 4 assists) combining for 22 points across the three games. Smoke HC's Frishmania (3 goals, 3 assists) and mashotpa (3 goals, 3 assists) tried to keep pace but couldn't match TWU's scoring depth. Rob609801 quietly contributed 4 assists from the blue line while playing strong defensive hockey throughout the series. While the shot totals stayed relatively even (76-54 in favor of TWU), the series ultimately came down to finishing ability and goaltending performance. TWU's PrawnsAndKings posted a respectable .842 save percentage across three games, making key saves in crucial moments. Smoke's lRxfio had strong stretches, particularly in their Game 2 win, but struggled in the decisive Game 3 with just a .667 save percentage. TWU's superior possession numbers (4248-3971 in total possession time) and cleaner play (84 giveaways vs 113 for Smoke) helped them control the pace and emerge victorious in a well-fought series.
