RECAP

The Baboons put on a clinical display of counter-attacking hockey, dismantling VooDoo Child in a 6-1 rout that defied the possession metrics. Despite VooDoo Child controlling the puck for significantly longer—logging 561 seconds of time on attack compared to the Baboons' 447—they simply could not find a way through the Baboons' defensive shell. The turning point came early as the Baboons capitalized on sloppy puck management, turning turnovers into high-danger rushes and scoring on a staggering 33% of their shots to put the game out of reach before the final frame. The offensive load was carried by a devastating duo, as Buckley0306 and Bills 39 both recorded hat tricks in the victory. Buckley0306 was the primary engine for the Baboons, finishing with a massive 5 points (3 goals, 2 assists), while Bills 39 added 4 points of his own. On the back end, roboubi provided the necessary stability to weather the VooDoo Child pressure, recording 4 blocked shots and 4 takeaways to keep the lanes clogged. In net, Imdomleegoat260 was reliable when called upon, stopping 8 of the 9 shots he faced to finish with an .889 save percentage and stifle any hope of a VooDoo comeback. The deciding factor in this one was pure efficiency versus wasted possession. VooDoo Child won the faceoff circle 14-8 and moved the puck well enough to set up in the zone, but they were plagued by 15 individual turnovers from Dupont l9l and a lack of finishing touch. While VooDoo Child looked for the perfect play, the Baboons were ruthless in transition, outshooting their opponents 18-9. The goaltending gap also told the story, as Hylightt struggled to track the Baboons' quick-release shots, finishing with a .667 save percentage while his counterpart across the ice remained largely untroubled.
