The Reggaeton Roughnecks managed to pull off a 7-6 heist against the Sea Cows in a game where the stats suggested a very different outcome. Despite being out-shot 24-17 and trailing significantly in time on attack (10:56 to 7:58), the Roughnecks capitalized on nearly every high-danger look they generated. The contest was a back-and-forth slugfest defined by clinical finishing rather than sustained pressure, as every time the Sea Cows used their heavy physical game to regain momentum, the Roughnecks found a way to counter-punch with an odd-man rush or a quick transition goal.
The offensive output was led by two massive individual performances on either side. Sejje was the undisputed catalyst for the Roughnecks, scoring 4 goals and adding 2 assists for a 6-point night, showing incredible efficiency by converting on 4 of his 6 shots. He was supported by T R 3 Y N 4, who secured the game-winning goal as part of a 3-point effort. On the other side, the Sea Cows featured a dual-hat-trick attack; Wizzywar posted 3 goals and 3 assists, while I BARD 15 I mirrored the goal production with 3 tallies of his own. While mashotpa. set the tone physically with a game-high 12 hits, it wasn't enough to bail out Jimmy124, who struggled in net with a .632 save percentage.
The deciding factor in this one was the disparity in clinical finishing versus volume shooting. The Sea Cows dominated the puck and the peripheral stats, but magilla72 made the stops that mattered most, finishing with 18 saves to keep his team afloat during the Sea Cows’ long offensive zone cycles. The Roughnecks' ability to execute under pressure was the difference; they managed to put 7 pucks in the net on just 17 shots. Even with the Sea Cows winning the special teams battle by converting a power play, their inability to turn a nearly 3-minute advantage in time on attack into an extra goal cost them the game.
